Samantha Stiers
don’t worry, survivor
soon your body
will come
clawing
at your back door
like a feral cat
you won’t know what to do with her
you have been apart
for so long
you offer her
oatstraw tea
wooly socks
she backs away
hissing
she doesn’t trust you now
day into night
you keep offering
patient, accepting
until one night
when you least expect it
she is beside you
warm firm heavy
and you remember
what it is to be
