Join us for a 3 day/2 night writing retreat, October 16th-18th, 2015, at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House, an historic inn and conference center in Taos, NM where creative artists, writers & intellectuals have gathered for over 80 years. Built by Mabel Dodge Luhan and her Taos Native American husband Tony Luhan, the house appears much as it did in the days when Mabel admired her views of the sacred Taos Mountain from her third-story solarium. Located on a quiet road not far from the center of town, one can easily understand why some of the greatest minds of the 20th century gathered and were inspired here. As one sits in any of the large comfortable rooms of the main house, one can easily imagine the stimulating conservations that must have taken place within its walls among the likes of Georgia O’Keeffe, D.H. Lawrence, Ansel Adams, and Willa Cather, among many others.
Mabel Dodge Luhan was a salon hostess, art patroness, writer and self-proclaimed savior of humanity! She is described as having been a woman of profound contradictions: generous, petty, domineering & endearing.
