In this six-week class, we’ll focus on the craft of memoir writing and use as our guide the workbook “Journey of Memoir: The Three Stages of Memoir Writing” by Linda Joy Myers. (Order from Amazon for use in the class.) Not only will we look at and review other best-selling memoirs to learn what made them so successful, we’ll also write to writing prompts relevant to creating material for your own memoir. The focus will also be on learning concrete writing tools in order to create your memoir with confidence:
- How to identify significant turning points in your life & how to create a narrative arc based on these events
- How to recognize the emotional takeaways from your experiences
- How to outline with confidence and create a substantial structure for telling your story
