Let go of the towline when you want to stop water skiing.
No sense in holding on until you crash and burn.

Let go of that job or school that you hate to go to each day.
No sense in spending time doing or being somewhere you
hate to be; follow your bliss.

Let go of the sacrament or reinvent the marriage.
No sense in sticking with what’s not working until you’re sick,
bitter, lose body parts, or die.

Let go of the need to be the dedicated, responsible employee.
No sense working on vacation, staying late, or taking on more
until you are stressed and unhappy.

Let go of being the go-overboard parent.
No sense in bailing your son out again and again; crippling him,
doing all the traveling to see kids and grandkids,
or taking on financial responsibility where they should.

Let go of protecting your professional reputation and feeling obligated to
make new contributions or be a member of the club.
No sense in doing what you do not have the passion for anymore.

Let go of punishing yourself for how much you weigh and your aging process.
No sense in not enjoying your body; it seems you have been unhappy about
some aspect of your body most of your life.

Let go of feeling obligated to call, gift, or visit family members or attend
family functions when you really don’t want to.
No sense in superficial connections or simply making an appearance.

Let go of feeling like you should be good friends with your daughter or sister,
or of feeling judged by them.
No sense in spending time with people you just don’t enjoy, even if they are
people you love.

Let go of having to affiliate with one group or another, Catholic,
Democrat, Hispanic, etc.
No sense in wearing labels and closing your mind.

Let go of seriousness, frown face, or controlling others with your mood or affect.
No sense in missing the fun or just taking in things as they are.

Let go of the sense of burden and heaviness you feel about life.
No sense in carrying a load that doesn’t belong to you.
Save your energy for the important things in life.
